RENKEI (Japan-UK Research and Education Network for Knowledge Economy Initiatives) is a partnership between 12 universities in Japan and the UK, aiming to further knowledge exchange and research collaboration between institutions and individuals.

For over 10 years, since the launch of the partnership in March 2012, this consortium of leading research-intensive universities from the two countries has been engaged in developing collaborations to address global research challenges. It has convened discussions aligned with major global themes such as Climate Change and Health, has played a key role in developing new domestic and international networks among senior and early career researchers.

About the International Science Partnerships Fund (ISPF)

The ISPF, managed by the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology, is part of the UK government’s commitments to prioritise strategic international science partnerships. In March 2023, the UK government announced a £119 million package for phase one of ISPF, which will allow UK scientists and innovators to collaborate with international partners on multidisciplinary projects regarding some of the most pressing themes of our time.
