Every year the British Council hosts a 'Pre-Departure Briefing for UK-bound students' to provide essential information to UK university offer holders in Japan who are about to start a course with a UK university or a foundation or pre-master course. This year’s British Council Japan Pre-Departure Briefing for UK-bound students will be held on Saturday 31 May 2025, at a venue in 'Kudan-Kaikan Terrace' (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo).
The event provides information about what and how to prepare, what to expect while studying, and tips to help students gain the most from their experience of studying with a UK university. Attending the event in person also provides participants with the opportunity to meet and connect with other students who will be studying with a UK university around the same time.
A more detailed programme and the speaker lineup will be published in April, but early sign-up for this event is now open. Participants registering early will receive detailed event information by email when it becomes available, and an early sign-up gift when they attend the event on the day.
This event is free to attend and is also open to those who are considering studying in the UK in the near future.

- What to expect when you arrive in the UK
- Making the most of your experience of studying with a UK university
- Presentations/talks by alumni sharing their experiences of studying with a UK university and their tips for future students
- Participants attending the event in person will have the opportunity to meet and connect with other students who will be studying with a UK university around the same time.
*The majority of the event will be delivered in Japanese with some presentations in English.
