The UK’s Royal Opera is one of the world’s five great opera houses. At the same time as performing a broad repertoire of works within the long tradition of stage culture at a world-class level, the company continually incorporates cutting-edge stage management and original ideas into its productions, which always attract attention from around the world. Two works will be performed in Japan during this visit: Faust, an opera in five acts, and Otello, with four acts. The company returns to Japan for the first time in four years, under the leadership of Antonio Pappano, who has served as musical director for the seventeen years since 2002.
