The British Council’s ‘Alumni UK’ global platform connects UK Alumni (people who have studied in or with the UK as an overseas student) around the world. Registering with Alumni UK allows you to expand your international network, exchange information with other UK Alumni that can help you in your career development, and access exclusive events for skills and career development. In addition to online opportunities, the British Council periodically organises face-to-face events for UK Alumni in Japan.
On Sunday 9 June 2024, the British Council will host the ‘Alumni UK social gathering in Tokyo’. This will be among the largest social gatherings for UK Alumni that the British Council has held in Japan to date. The event will take place immediately after the British Council pre-departure briefing for UK-bound students 2024, and a limited number of participants of that first event will be invited to take part in the Alumni UK social gathering as well. The event will be a great opportunity for those who have studied in the UK to meet other UK Alumni and grow their networks, as well as to share their lived experiences of studying in the UK with those about to start courses or considering studying in the UK in the future.
Eligibility
You need to have spent at least one term at a UK higher education institution enrolled on a credit-bearing course. This includes transnational or online education.

- This event is for international UK Alumni and we regret UK nationals are not eligible.

- Please let us know on the application form if you have any access support/adjustment requests (e.g. sign-language interpretation, someone to accompany you to the venue from station closest to venue).
- Participants must be over 18 years of age, although exceptions may be considered for under-18s being accompanied by their guardians/parents. Please contact the British Council Japan Education team at <alumni@britishcouncil.or.jp> if you would like to bring a child/dependant to facilitate your participation in this event.
